Larry D. Clavette is the director of the Air Force Public Affairs Agency (AFPAA), a field operating agency of the Secretary of the Air Force Office of Public Affairs, with more than 350 people at eight locations worldwide. Mr. Clavette leads the Air Force agency that is responsible for Air Force Combat Camera operations; oversees an archiving and distribution capability for all PA products; manages licensing and branding of the Air Force trademarks; deploys crisis response teams supporting Air Force PA support to contingencies; conducts research and establish guidance on emerging technologies for future PA operations; assists with managing career field force development training; provides standards and evaluations guidance for PA activities; and field tests and purchases future equipment systems for the public affairs career field. Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Clavette was the assistant deputy director of public affairs, Secretary of the Air Force Office of Public Affairs, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Mr. Clavette joined SAF/PA in 2001 as a policy writer. Mr. Clavette started as an Air Force civilian employee in 1993 at Griffiss AFB, NY as chief of media relations and then became the chief of public affairs. He later became the chief of public for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service Rome Operating Location. He moved to Offutt AFB, NE as the chief of community relations and later as the deputy chief of public affairs. Mr. Clavette then became the chief of public affairs for Columbus AFB, MS before moving to the Pentagon.

Mr. Clavette enlisted in the Air Force in 1974 and retired from active duty in 1993. During his enlisted service, he held public affairs positions at Griffiss AFB NY, San Vito AS Italy, Offutt AFB NE, Rhein-Main AB Germany and Langley AFB VA; and was a public affairs instructor and training development specialist at the Defense Information School, Ft. Benjamin Harrison IN.

A native of Dolgeville, New York, Mr. Clavette has a bachelor's degree in leadership and management. He is a member of the American Legion and life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Air Force Public Affairs Alumni Association.
