Band Support

Mission:
Shape the future of Air Force Bands and support Airmen Musicians in communicating the Air Force story

Vision:
Be the primary innovators in communicating Air Force Band missions and products

The Band Support Cell serves the USAF in three primary missions.

One of the primary missions of the Band Support Cell is the creation of new, unique music compositions and arrangements. The Band Cell arranging staff receives new requests from all Air Force Bands through Chief of Band Support. New musical projects are created for a wide variety of Air Force Band groups as well as changing existing compositions/arrangements to fit manning needs of different groups and/or vocalists. These handcrafted products are performed for thousands each year and are often requested for and spotlighted on recordings and broadcast throughout the world on TV and Radio for millions.

The Band Support Cell also handles music licensing for the Air Force band career field. Any Air Force band musical product that contains copyright-protected material requires a license (Title 17, U.S.C. Copyright Law). Licenses are coordinated by the Band Support Cell.

Finally, the Band Support Cell projects the Air Force message throughout the world via cutting edge innovation and utilizing ground-breaking publicity tools. One example of this is the website www.music.af.mil. This website contains, for the first time ever, the entire archive of all music recorded by Air Force Bands.
